The latest Express Entry draw of the Canadian Express Entry Immigration program, which took place on the 18th of November, saw a record 3,900 invitations sent out to applicants inviting them to begin a new life in Canada. This record equaling number for most invitations given out in a single draw, takes the total number of invitations for 2018 to 82,000. This is in line with the Canadian government’s stated goal to invite 200,000 highly skilled migrants to start life in Canada.

Also encouraging was the fact that the cut off dropped by 4 points to a score of 445 on the CRS for the invitation. This minimum score that was required to secure an Invitation for migration to Canada saw a drop by 4 very close points from the previous draw conducted 2 weeks prior (15th of November). Whilst the drop is encouraging prospective applicants should note that it is nowhere close to 400 levels seen in 2017.

The bar is only set to get higher meaning that if you are interested in making your move to Canada through the lucrative Express Entry Program launched by its government, it’s best you move fast because the ‘competition’ is be heating up. And why wouldn’t it? The Canadian Express Entry program has seen tens of thousands of individuals through to a more fulfilling life with a Permanent Residency in Canada, this year alone.

On the 31st of October, the government of Canada introduced its updated Immigration Plan for 2019-2021. It only further emphasized Canada’s commitment to increase the number of migrants accepted through the various Canada immigration routes; Federal Skilled Worker Class, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Trades Class to 256,000 over the next three years, with another 200,000 or so new permanent residents to settle through the Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) before the end of 2021.

Several Express Entry candidates who have received an ITA benefit from obtaining a provincial nomination through an Express Entry-aligned Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) stream.
